[PIO] Cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization for the development of a National Strategy for Mental Health in

A three-member team of the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the Ministry of Health today, where it attended a meeting chaired by the Minister of Health, Dr. Popi Kanari.

The meeting took place in the framework of the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the WHO for the development of a National Strategy for Mental Health in Cyprus and is a continuation of teleconferences that took place in the previous period.

On the same issue the WHO team had planned and had contacts yesterday and today with all stakeholders, in order to have a universal approach to the development of a National Strategy for Mental Health in Cyprus.

At the meeting it was reported that sub-committees have been set up to start work per pillar. Members of the subcommittees are representatives from all stakeholders, who will identify and list all the needs to be included in the National Strategy with the ultimate aim of covering them.

During the meeting, the Minister of Health warmly thanked the representatives of the World Health Organization for providing expertise for the development of a National Strategy for Mental Health in Cyprus.
