In the framework of the High-Level Week of the 78th UN General Assembly in New York, Foreign Minister Dr Konstantinos Kombos yesterday, Tuesday, 19 September 2023, had a series of bilateral contacts and participated in high-level meetings with his counterparts.
In a meeting with the Prime Minister and Acting Foreign Minister of Montenegro, Mr. Dritan Abazovic, the commitment of the two sides to further deepen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries in international organizations was confirmed. He reiterated Cyprus' support for Montenegro's accession process and informed his counterpart about the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and the efforts our side is making to resume negotiations. Ilia Darchiashvili, during which the common commitment of the two countries to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states on the basis of international law was reaffirmed.

The Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the latest developments on the Cyprus issue and expressed Cyprus' support for the deepening of EU-Ghana relations. The meeting reviewed the relations between Cyprus and the EIM, and discussed ways to further deepen and broaden cooperation.
The Foreign Minister's bilateral contacts at the UN Headquarters concluded late in the afternoon with a meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Principality of Monaco, Ms. Isabelle Berro-Amadei, with whom he discussed issues of mutual interest related to bilateral relations and international developments. In this context, the Foreign Minister referred to Prince Albert II's contribution to the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development, underlining Cyprus' willingness to promote bilateral cooperation in these areas.
Earlier, the Foreign Minister participated in a trilateral meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Israel, as well as in a meeting with the leadership of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and the Foreign Minister of Israel.
