In the framework of her visit to Athens, Gender Equality Commissioner Ms. Josie Christodoulou met today with the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Ms. Sofia Zacharaki and the Secretary General for Equality and Human Rights Ms. Zefi Dimadaki.
During the meeting, ways of cooperation on issues related to the promotion of gender equality and women's rights were discussed, following the contacts of the Minister of Justice and Public Order Mr.
Ms Christodoulou also had a meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Social Solidarity and Equality of the Municipality of Athens, Ms Maria Stratigaki, during which they discussed good practices for promoting gender equality in local government.

Earlier, the Commissioner met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Greece in Athens, Mr Stavros Avgoustidis. They discussed ways of cooperation and agreed, inter alia, to co-organise presentations at the Embassy on gender equality issues.
Tomorrow, the Commissioner will speak at the Conference of the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus entitled "Women in Diplomacy".
