The air defence exercise "TALOS 2022" was successfully completed with the participation of the National Guard and the French Armed Forces.
The exercise took place on the occasion of the presence of the French Navy's aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle in the Eastern Mediterranean region. The activities of the air defence exercise "TALOS" are part of the implementation of the defence cooperation programme between Cyprus and France and take place in part of the land and airspace of the free territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
The scenario of the exercise involved flights of fighter formations at low altitude, aimed at attacking military installations of the National Guard. The main purpose of the exercise was to test the air defence system of the Republic of Cyprus and to train the National Guard personnel in realistic conditions.
Through this joint activity, the personnel of the National Guard and the French Forces are co-trained, while the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of air operations and air defence is considered particularly important.
The air defence exercise "TALOS" sends positive signals about the readiness of the two states for cooperation, with the aim of further strengthening bilateral relations in the field of defence and security. Cyprus and France share common bonds and a common interest in working together to promote peace and stability in the region.
