In a joint initiative, the Digital Security Authority and the Cyprus National Cyber Security Coordination Centre of the Office of the Communications Commissioner, the Cyprus Police Cyber Crime Sub-Directorate and the Cyprus Banks Association are joining forces, their expertise and experience, and through an awareness campaign, aim to create a shield of protection for citizens and organisations against cyber fraud through electronic methods.
The initiative, called ASPIS (INFORMATION SECURITY and INFORMATION SECURITY), aims to inform citizens about the tactics and methods used by cybercriminals to gain access to personal data and bank accounts or to lure victims into fraudulent transactions aimed at stealing money.
The awareness effort is aimed at the general public, with a focus on those groups who are often at greatest risk and most susceptible to such attacks.
This statement marks the first joint effort on behalf of the participating organisations, calling on the media to actively contribute to the awareness campaign, with the aim of protecting citizens against online threats and cyber fraud.
Conducting electronic transactions and using electronic communication is a daily reality for the majority of citizens. Thus, ensuring security in these areas becomes even more critical, especially against those who threaten the security of electronic transactions and communications.
With a collective effort it is possible to safeguard our transactions, our private communications, our personal data and our property. It is very important to be vigilant and alert as criminals are constantly looking for new victims - don't allow yourself to be next!
