I wish to inform the public that the above audit, which started on 22/3/2024, has been completed and the Audit Report was sent to the Police on 4/6/2024. The purpose of the audit was, on the one hand, to ascertain the legality, necessity and proportionality of the CBC in the Monastery and, on the other hand, to investigate what took place in the Diocese of Tamassos and Mountains, on 5-6 March 2024 and thereafter, which falls within my jurisdiction.
The findings of the audit recorded acts and/or omissions, which constitute a violation of the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and, by extension, criminal offences. At this stage, details cannot be disclosed, as the investigative work of the Police is ongoing, which should not be affected.
Irrespective of any criminal liability, under the GDPR I have the power to impose administrative sanctions if I deem it necessary. This will be decided after the completion of the investigative work.
