Further to my last announcement dated 3 June 2024, I wish to inform the public that on the day of the 9 June 2024 elections, my Office conducted nationwide on-site compliance checks in 104 polling stations.
The on-site inspections revealed that the procedures/instructions regarding the prohibition of calling out the identity card number and the management of the electoral rolls by the representatives of political combinations/parties/candidates, who were inside the polling stations, were complied with.
However, my Office was informed by citizens that in certain polling stations, the voter registration booklet number was not called out, but the identity card number was called out. These cases were dealt with immediately and the Electoral Office will be informed of these cases for its own action.
During the election period, on election weekend and up to the present time, 43 written complaints have been submitted to my Office regarding the receipt of unsolicited promotional text messages, emails and/or telephone calls from staffs and/or supporters of candidates to promote their political candidacy. These complaints are being investigated and the results will be announced following the investigation.
