On September 18, 2023, exercising our constitutional powers, we forwarded to the Department of Public Works a letter with our comments regarding the new Legal Services building under bidding. For the reasons we explain at length, we recommend the cancellation of the tender and expect the Government to act in this direction.
Yesterday, in yet another blatant attack, the Attorney General confidently accused the Auditor General of releasing the letter to the public, and indeed of doing so in order to hurt the Attorney General, whom, according to his statement, the Auditor General has always targeted.
We note first of all that the letter is not even classified and could be made public. However, we did not consider that there was any such reason. Accordingly, the letter was sent only to the recipients marked on it and no others. We are therefore surprised at the Attorney General's assurance that it is the Auditor General who released the letter to the public. This fact leaves him irreparably exposed.
