The Ministry of Health informs that following consultation with stakeholders, a Special Protocol has been drawn up to regulate catering and entertainment establishments allowing dancing, in an effort to ensure that these establishments remain safe and operational. The following guidelines - conditions were discussed and approved by the Scientific Advisory Committee during the meeting held on 21 February 2022.
The Special Protocol is addressed to catering establishments, entertainment centres, music and dance venues and will come into effect from tomorrow, Thursday 24 February 2022 at 10am. The maximum number of persons in the above mentioned premises is 500 persons, provided that the area of the premises allows for a ratio of 1.5 m2 per person.
In particular. available service space (excluding kitchen areas, toilets, storerooms) and can serve more than 150 people and there is dancing, admission will be permitted:
- To persons 12 years of age and older who hold a valid negative antigen (Rapidtest) of 15 hours regardless of vaccination coverage or certificate of recovery. [*]In children aged 6-11 years who have a valid negative antigen (Rapidtest) valid for 7 days regardless of vaccination coverage or certificate of recovery. [*]It is stressed that the owner/operator of the establishment/business must inform the Ministry of Health with a signed written affidavit that his/her establishment will accommodate more than 150 persons on the basis of its square footage and will provide music and dance entertainment, as well as the details of the Safety Officer at the following e-mail address: healthservices@mphs.moh.gov.cy (The Affidavit is included in the Special Protocol).
b) Food venues, entertainment venues, which based on square footage accommodate more than 150 people and there is no dancing, entry will be allowed:
- To persons without a history of vaccination upon demonstration of a Rapid or PCR test of 24 hours' validity.
- To persons 12 years of age or older who have completed their vaccination schedule, or received a booster dose of vaccine, or hold a certificate of infection with the demonstration of a valid certificate of vaccination or infection.
- In children aged 6-11 years with a history of vaccination by showing a valid certificate of vaccination or disease, or without a history of vaccination by showing a valid negative antigen (Rapidtest valid for 7 days.
c) Restaurants, entertainment venues, which on the basis of square meters accommodate less than 150 persons and there is or is not dancing, entry will be allowed:
- To persons without a history of vaccination upon demonstration of a Rapid or PCR test of 24 hours' validity.
- To persons 12 years of age or older who have completed their vaccination schedule, or received a booster dose of vaccine, or hold a certificate of infection with the demonstration of a valid certificate of vaccination or infection.
- In children aged 6-11 years with a history of vaccination by showing a valid certificate of vaccination or disease, or without a history of vaccination by showing a valid negative antigen (Rapidtest valid for 7 days.
Citizens will be tested by showing the negative test in hard copy or text message, or by showing the certificate of vaccination or infection in hard copy or digital format, and identification of the person by showing proof of identification (identity card, passport, driving licence and birth certificate for children under 12 years of age).
