[PIO] Children's Clothing Control Campaign

The presence of laces in children's clothing is a serious risk for children, as laces can cause serious injuries and even death. Many accidents have been recorded during children's activities due to the entrapment of clothing laces in slides, doors, trees and other places.

Taking these risks seriously and on the occasion of the start of the new school year, given the large number of new children's clothing available on the market, the Consumer Protection Agency will carry out a campaign during the periods 4/9/2023 - 08/09/2023 and 16/10/2023 - 27/10/2023. During the campaign, it is expected that over 170 locations nationwide will be checked to identify and remove dangerous children's clothing. Information will also be provided to economic operators.

Finally, the Service will continue to inform consumers in order to protect their health and safety more effectively. As part of the campaign, a brochure entitled "Children's Clothing - Advice to Consumers", which contains detailed information on the safety of children's clothing, is available on the Agency's website (www.consumer.gov.cy).
