Joint statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Civil Defence Force
In recent days we have been witnessing a major humanitarian drama with the movement of over 100,000 people from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia.
Cyprus could not remain indifferent to the call of the European Civil Protection Mechanism to send humanitarian aid to Armenia.
On Thursday, 5 October 2023, an enlarged meeting was held under the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the participation of all ministries, government departments and organisations involved, with the aim of taking decisions on the type and manner of sending humanitarian aid to Armenia for the civilian population of Nagorno Karabakh affected by the recent aggressive military operation by Azerbaijan.
At the meeting it was decided to send immediate financial aid, state sponsorship and contribution of citizens who wish to do so through a fundraiser to the account below:

as well as the collection of various types of humanitarian aid such as medicines, dry food and personal hygiene items.
The humanitarian aid is being sent in the framework of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism to which Armenia has applied for assistance. A humanitarian aid collection campaign starts from Monday 09/10/2023 until Friday 13/10/2023. The whole effort is carried out in cooperation with all relevant state agencies and is supported by local authorities, as well as organizations and associations.
Types of humanitarian aid:
- Dry food (e.g. cereals, nuts, biscuits, spaghetti, milk powder for children/children's food)
- Personal hygiene items
- Children's and adult diapers
We warmly request that those who wish to contribute to this effort limit themselves to the items on the above list. Any items not included in the above list will not be received. All items should be by type and delivered in cartons.
