The Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry Ms Natasha Pileidou is in London, where as the head of a business delegation from Cyprus she participated last night in a business forum to promote our country as an international centre for services and business and as an attractive destination for investment.

During the last business forum co-organised in the British capital by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in the United Kingdom and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, Mrs. Pileidou presented, before businessmen and professionals from the UK and Cyprus, the sectors of the Cypriot economy that, on the occasion of its green and digital transition, present the most favourable prospects for developing activities and strengthening partnerships.

Among other things, the Minister of Commerce referred to the Sponsorship Plans and the measures foreseen in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Cyprus _ Tomorrow" for the energy transition and the digital goals of our country, which cost respectively 41% and 23% of the total budget of €1.2 billion. In addition, he explained key aspects of Cyprus' new strategy for attracting businesses and skilled human resources, which includes both the visa for digital nomads and the operation of a Company Facilitation Unit at the MoEIB, which has recorded, since the beginning of the year, more than 1.200 foreign interest companies in the relevant Register.

Also as part of the visit, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales hosted a working lunch yesterday afternoon for Ms. Pileidou, in the presence of Cyprus' High Commissioner to the UK, Mr. Andreas S. Kakouris. During the lunch, they discussed, inter alia, recent developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region and the further deepening of cooperation between the two parties.

In addition, tonight, Mrs. Pileidou and the members of the Cypriot business delegation will take part in a forum organised by the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in the United Kingdom, the KEBE, the UK-Cyprus Business Association and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales on "Business through Diaspora". The aim of the event, which will also involve the participation of Cypriot Diaspora institutions and organisations, is to examine ways to further strengthen cooperation between Cypriots in the UK and the Cypriot Government in implementing the Government's initiatives to promote business partnerships, strengthen exports of Cypriot products and services and attract foreign investment to Cyprus.
