[PIO] "Building tomorrow's Europe together: The voice of young people" - Open dialogue with students in the context of the Future of Europe Conference

In the context of the ongoing dialogue on the Future of Europe Conference, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth and the General Secretariat for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are organising an open debate with high school students, in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, the European Parliament Office in Cyprus and the Press and Information Office.

The event will be attended by the Embassies of Germany, France and the Netherlands.

The event will take place on 1 February 2022, between 11:10 am - 1:00 pm, at the Lyceum of Archbishop Makarios III of Dasoupolis, with the physical presence of the participants, and will be webcast live on the YouTube channel of the Press and Information Office at https:/youtu.be/FOacCAIi0Pc

Building on the objectives of the Conference, the aim of the event is to give students a platform to express their ideas, aspirations and vision, thus contributing to shaping the Europe of the future.

During the event, 40 students representing 20 high schools from all over Cyprus participating in the "European Parliament Ambassador School" programme will have the opportunity to present their views and develop their positions through dialogue, before the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Mr Prodromos Prodromos, Mrs. Mrs. Filippas Karseras, the Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus Mrs. Myrtous Zabarta, the Head of the Office of the European Parliament in Cyprus Mr. Andreas Kettis and the Ambassadors of Germany Mrs. Anke Schlimm, France Mrs. Salina Grenet Catalano and the Netherlands Mrs. Elke Paula Merks. The debate will be moderated by the journalist Mrs. Vivian Kanari.

The debate and the presentation of ideas will take place on three themes. The role of the EU in the world.

This will be preceded, on 31 January 2022, via videoconference, by preparatory meetings of groups of students from the 20 high schools in question, for discussion with the Ambassadors of Germany, France and the Netherlands and to draw conclusions and ideas.

The event will be held in the physical presence of the participants, respecting all existing health protocols of the Ministry of Health.
