Checks on the leasing contracts of Turkish Cypriot premises for commercial use continue at an intensive pace by an internal audit team set up on the instructions of the Minister of Interior. It is recalled that the aim of the audits is to evaluate all existing contracts in order to determine the correct observance of the terms of the contracts.
In the period until the end of October 2023, an audit was carried out on a total of 841 leasing contracts of Turkish Cypriot premises granted for commercial use, all over Cyprus. According to the results of the audit, it was found that in 81 cases the terms of the contract were demonstrably violated[/B]. Another 91 cases require further investigation.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirms its determination to implement measures to ensure the proper management of Turkish Cypriot sub-structures, with transparency and meritocracy in the interest of the refugee population.
