[PIO] Applications for a full-time and part-time professional licence for small-scale coastal fishing vessels (categories A' and B')

The Department of Fisheries and Marine Research of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that it is accepting applications for full-time and part-time (Category A' and B') coastal fishing licences for small vessels for the years 2024 - 2028. The Department intends to grant up to 327 licenses.

Interested parties are invited to submit their applications to the local District Offices of the Department from 09 October 2023 to 20 October 2023, by filling in the special application form, which is posted on the website of the Department and providing all the necessary photocopies needed for the evaluation of their application.

It is noted that, according to the Fisheries Act, vessels may not be used for the purpose of fishing for fish in or outside territorial waters (for vessels flying the Cypriot flag) unless a fishing licence has been issued for them. Any person who uses a vessel for fishing in contravention of the Act is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or a fine not exceeding €17,080 or to both penalties together.

It is recalled that all existing fishing licences expire on 31 December 2023.
