The Attorney General of the Republic today filed an appeal against the decision of the Limassol District Court, dated 8 November 2023, which ruled that the Republic of Cyprus and the Central Bank of Cyprus are liable for the losses suffered by a depositor due to the impairment of deposits ("haircut") at Laiki Bank in 2013, pursuant to the "Resolution of Credit and Other Institutions Law of 2013".

The appeal is against the entire decision of the Limassol District Court. In particular, the Republic of Cyprus challenges the Court's findings as to the liability of its authorities and the Court's conclusion that the Republic of Cyprus must pay compensation to the depositor.
