1. Maintenance works of the asphalt pavement on sections of the A9 motorway towards Nicosia

The Nicosia District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announces that from Monday, 5/9/2022 until Thursday, 15/9/2022 (excluding Friday, Saturday and Sunday), from 20:00 in the evening until 5:30 in the morning of the following day, asphalt maintenance works will be carried out on sections of the A9 motorway towards Nicosia (from the exit to Mammari to Nicosia Mall).

During the execution of the works, parts of the A9 motorway towards Nicosia will be closed and vehicle traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction of traffic, converting it into two-way traffic.

2. Installation of emergency gates on the central island of the Nicosia - Limassol motorway

The Nicosia District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announces that from Monday, 5/9/2022 until Thursday, 8/9/2022, from 18:00 in the evening until 6:00 in the morning of the following day, emergency gate installation works will be carried out on the central island of the Nicosia - Limassol 1000m highway.

During the works, the express lanes towards Limassol and Nicosia will be closed in sections of approximately 200m and traffic will use the adjacent slow lanes.

3. Start of the project "Road Within Cheriou"

The Nicosia District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announces the start of the project "Road Within Cheriou". This project will commence on 1 September 2022, and will have a duration of 78 weeks, i.e. it will be completed by 28 February 2024. For the purposes of the project, work will be performed within the Municipality of Cherry to upgrade the main roadway through the Municipality.

Specifically, the work will include the construction of a two-lane road (with right-handed additional lanes at traffic lights) within the Municipality of Cherry for a length of approximately 2.5 km. It also includes the construction of sections of lane roads (K. Misiaouli, Salamina, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), for a total length of approximately 600 metres, contributing to the main road. The project will include a small roundabout connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northernmost end. Parking areas will be created along the road on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the municipality as well as the two primary schools included in the section under construction. The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, installation of traffic lights, undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, installation of new street lighting and other related work.

Depending on each phase of the work, notices will be issued describing the work to be performed and the corresponding traffic regulations.

4. Suspension of sweeping works on sections of the Nicosia-Lemesos motorway and the Limassol bypass road

The Limassol District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announces that, the sweeping works on sections of the Nicosia - Limassol Motorway and the Limassol Bypass Road, from the Mouttayaka exit to the on-ramp of the New Limassol Hospital, scheduled to be carried out from 26/8/2022 - 28/08/2022, have been postponed due to technical problems.

The works will be carried out from Friday, 2/9/2022 to Sunday, 4/9/2022, between the hours of 09:00 - 16:00.During the execution of the works the following will be applied. The express lane of the highway/bypass road will be closed in sections for approximately 200m in one direction only at all times and traffic will be directed to the adjacent lane.

II. One lane of the connecting roads of the roundabouts will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 100m in one direction only, at any one time, and traffic will be directed to the adjacent lane.

The Department of Public Works apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience that will be caused and urges the public to show due understanding and comply with the temporary road signs and police instructions.
