[PIO] Announcements of the Department of Public Works for works in Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos Districts

The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that since 25/3/2024 the replacement of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company at 47 light-controlled intersections and 31 pedestrian crossings of Pelican type in the Limassol and Paphos districts


The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that since 25/3/2024 the replacement of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company has started in 47 light-controlled intersections and 31 pedestrian crossings of Pelican type in the Limassol and Paphos area, with a new type of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) with LED lamps, a Pedestrian Countdown system and a touch-type pedestrian demand system.


Equipment replacement work at each location will be completed within one day, barring contingency. During the work, light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service, and temporary traffic lights will be installed if necessary.

During the week of 1/4/2024 - 7/4/2024, work will be conducted at the following intersections/pedestrian crossings. [*]George A' (B1) / Ariadne (Traffic Lights - Limassol) [*]Avenue. Arch. 2. Larnaca Drainage Board works in Kiti

The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that during the period 2/4/2024 - 30/4/2024, on Archbishop Makarios Avenue in Kiti, the Larnaca Drainage Board will carry out sewerage system construction works.

During the above period, part of Arch. Makarios Avenue, from its junction with Gr. Afxentiou Street to Achna Street in both directions will be closed and traffic will be routed via adjacent roads.

3. Pruning works in Larnaca

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, Department of Public Works, Larnaca District Engineer's Office announces that during the period 2/4/2024 - 14/6/2024, daily except weekends, between 08:30 - 14:30, on the Larnaca - Kofinou and Larnaca Airport - Rizoelia motorways in both directions, tree pruning and watering works will be carried out on the roadside by the Forestry Department.

During the works, the motorway embankment will be closed in sections, at a length of 300 metres at a time, without lane closures.

4. The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Monday 1 April 2024, between the hours of 07:00 - 13:00, on Arch. Makarios and Gr. A festive parade will be held in Aradippou, by the Municipality of Aradippou.

During the event, part of Arch. Makarios Avenue, from its confluence with Gr. Afxentiou Avenue, from its junction with 1 April Avenue, will be closed and traffic will be directed through adjacent roads.

5. Work on the Limassol - Nicosia motorway

The Limassol District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that during the period 2/4/2024 - 25/4/2024, from 21:00 to 06:00 of the next day, every day except Fridays and weekends, safety barrier replacement works will be carried out on sections of the Limassol - Nicosia motorway, on the section from Moni junction to the new hospital junction in both directions.

During the execution of the works, one lane of the motorway will be partially closed for a length of 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

6. Waste collection works on the Nicosia - Limassol motorway

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, Department of Public Works, Limassol District Engineer's Office announces that on Saturday 30/3/2024, from 07:00 until 12:00, on the Nicosia - Limassol motorway (A1), on the section Skarinou - Akti tou Kybernitis, waste collection works will be carried out from the central island of the motorway.

During the works, the express lane towards Limassol will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to the slow lane and traffic will be managed by the mobile worksite system.

The Department of Public Works apologises for the inevitable inconvenience that will be caused and invites the public to show the necessary understanding and compliance with the temporary road signs.
