[PIO] Announcements of the Department of Public Works for works in Larnaca and Nicosia Districts

1. Road lighting maintenance works on road sections in Larnaca District

The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that during the period 4/3/2024 - 22/3/2024, every day except weekends and holidays, road lighting maintenance works will be carried out by the Electromechanical Service on road sections of Larnaca District, as follows:

1. From 4/3/2024 until 15/3/2024, between the hours 08:00 - 15:00, at the Pyla exit, from the Larnaca - Ayia Napa motorway to the Dhekelia coastal road,
2. From 19/3/2024 until 22/3/2024, between the hours 08:00 - 15:00, on the road to the Industrial Area of Dromolaxia, from its junction with the Larnaca - Kition road.

During the execution of the works, one lane or the shoulder of the road will be closed for a length of 50 - 150 m depending on the road and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using STOP & GO signs.

2. The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that during the period 4/3/2024 - 13/3/2024, between 08:30 - 15:30, every day except weekends, on a section of the Larnaca - Kition road in Larnaca District, the Municipality of Dromolaxia will carry out island cleaning works.

During the execution of the works, part of the above road, from the New Airport roundabout to the Old Airport roundabout from both directions (not simultaneously), will be closed for a length of 200 m. at a time and traffic will be directed to the adjacent lane.

3. Excavation works on Kyriakou Matsis Street in Aradippou

The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Sunday 3/3/2024, between the hours of 07:00 - 17:00, on Kyriakou Matsis Street in Aradippou, Larnaca District, excavation works will be carried out by the Cyprus Electricity Authority.

During the execution of the works, the section of Kyriakou Matsis Street, from its junction with Odysseas Elytis Street to the Monument of the Missing in Aradippou will be closed from both directions, and traffic will be routed through adjacent roads.

4. The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that during the period 4/3/2024 - 12/4/2024, except Sundays and holidays, from 08:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, work will be carried out to cut, collect and remove grass, as well as collect and remove rubbish from the embankments and slopes along the entire length of the Larnaca - Ayia Napa motorway, in both directions, including the junctions.

During the execution of the works, the motorway embankment will be closed in sections and traffic will remain in the lanes as normal, without the embankment.

5. Pavement cleaning works on the acceleration lane of the Nicosia - Larnaca motorway (A2)

The Nicosia District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Monday 4/3/2024 and Tuesday 5/3/2024, between 08:30 - 12:00, cleaning works will be carried out on the acceleration lane of the Nicosia - Larnaca motorway (A2) until the exit of Libia.

During the execution of the works, the sweeper will be accompanied by 2 vehicles with traffic lights for the safety of both workers and other users of the road network.

6. The Nicosia - Kokkinotrimithia motorway acceleration lane (A9)

The Nicosia District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that from Wednesday 6/3/2024 until Friday 8/3/2024, between 08:30 - 12:00, cleaning works will be carried out on the acceleration lane of the Nicosia - Kokkinotrimithia motorway (A9).

During the execution of the works, the sweeper will be accompanied by 2 vehicles with traffic lights for the safety of both workers and other road users.

The Department of Public Works, apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience that will be caused and urges the public to show the necessary understanding and comply with the temporary road signs.
