1. Cleaning works of the central island on a section of the Larnaca - Kofinou motorway (A5)
The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Wednesday 6/12/2023 and Thursday 7/12/2023, between 08:00 - 14:00, work will be carried out to clean the central island on a section of the Larnaca - Kofinou motorway (A5) from the exit of Anglicides to the end of the motorway.
During the execution of the works, the express lane of the motorway will be partially closed for a distance of approximately 1500 metres and traffic will be diverted to the slow lane.
2. The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that as of 06/09/2023, the replacement of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company in 33 light-controlled intersections and 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings in the Larnaca and Famagusta area started, with a new type of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) with LED lamps, a Pedestrian Countdown system and a touch-type pedestrian demand system.
The equipment replacement work at each location will be completed, except in the unlikely event, within one day and during the work the light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service and temporary traffic lights will be installed if necessary.
During the week 4/12/2023 - 10/12/2023, work will be conducted at the following intersections/pedestrian crossings:
- Ave. Γ. Kranidiotis / Agriniou (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
- Avenue. Γ. Kranidiotis Avenue / Timaya Street (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
- Kranidiotis Ave. Sp. Kyprianou / Valdasserides (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
- Ave. Sp. Kyprianou / A. Panagouli (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
- Ave. Sp. Kyprianou / Papanikoli (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
- Ave. Grigori Afxentiou (Pedestrian Crossing, Larnaca)
The Department of Public Works apologizes for the inevitable inconvenience that will be caused and invites the public to demonstrate the necessary understanding and compliance with the temporary road signs and the instructions of the Police.
