a) Under full control forest fire in Kossiis Community
The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 14:10 a fire broke out in Kossiis Community.
The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under full control at 16:00, before it spread after burning hay bales and dry grass.
Four Forestry Department personnel with two fire engines and three Fire Department personnel with one fire engine participated in the extinguishing operation.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
Forest fire under full control in the Municipality of Cheriou
The second fire broke out at 14:30 near the Apalos State Forest in the Municipality of Cheriou. The fire was brought under full control at 16:00, burning an area of 1.2 hectares with dry grasses and other low vegetation.
To extinguish the fire, three people of the Forestry Department with one fire truck and 13 people of the Fire Service with four fire trucks operated.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
