The President of the Republic, Mr.Nicos Anastasiades, will hold a series of important meetings next week.
The meetings will concern: security at Vasilikos, the reform of the judiciary, the role of AHK in a competitive environment and the plans for the arrival of Natural Gas.
Security in Vasilikos
On Monday 17 January, the President of the Republic will chair a meeting on the security of the wider Vasilikos area. The meeting was set following the fire that occurred last Tuesday, January 11, which caused legitimate concerns.
The meeting will be attended by the Ministers of Transport, Communications and Works, Justice and Public Order, Energy, Trade and Industry and officials.
The aim is to take decisions to be implemented as soon as possible to allay concerns.
Justice Reform
A meeting has been set for next Tuesday, January 18, on the issue of justice reform. The meeting was set in order to overcome the obstacles that have arisen in recent days, in the process of approval of the relevant bills by Parliament ,as well as the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Authority.
The heads of the political parties were also invited to the meeting to discuss ways to advance the bills pending in the House of Representatives.
AHK and competition
On Thursday, January 20, the course of AHK in the new competitive environment will be discussed. Ways for a safe and productive adaptation of the Agency to the new circumstances will be examined.
The meeting will be attended by the Ministers of Finance and Energy.
Arrival of Natural Gas
On Friday, January 21, the meeting established under the President of the Republic will deal with the arrival of natural gas and the progress in the implementation of infrastructure projects.
The progress of the projects in relation to the existing requirements will be studied and ways to accelerate them will be discussed.
These critical meetings are being held in the context of the President's desire to give impetus to the open issues under consideration, the completion of which will add significant value to the state, its institutions and contribute to the further economic development of the country.
