The Commercialisation / Port Regulation Committee of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Ports Authority was informed by the competent officials of the Authority in relation to the developments concerning the work of the contractor company in the Port of Larnaca, during its meeting on 2 October 2023.
In the context of the above briefing, the Director of Port Regulation referred to issues relating to the areas of supervision in which the Authority is active. In particular, under the role of Regulator/Supervisor, the Authority monitors and supervises the contractor in the areas of safety and health, environmental management, implementation of the International ISPS Code, as well as in matters relating to the monitoring of navigation and, where necessary, takes appropriate action under the powers granted to it by the relevant legislation.
At the same time, the Authority continues to issue Port of Entry tickets, a service which is provided uninterrupted and uninterrupted around the clock.
As regards the implementation of the project, which was decided in the context of the commercialisation process of the Port of Larnaca, it is noted that the role of Grantor has been assigned by the Republic of Cyprus to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works.
The Authority stresses that it plays to the fullest extent and to the maximum extent its responsibilities with regard to its supervisory role and the regulation of port activities, and that with regard to the development part of the project, the Authority, as the owner of the port, undertakes the timely and thoroughly investigated signing of any documents submitted by the Grantor to the various authorities.
