The annual Cleanliness Awards were held on Wednesday, November 22, at the Deuteras Community Buildings by the Prefect of Nicosia Mr. Andreas Hadjipakkos. 25 Nicosia District Community Councils were awarded, in a modest ceremony, for their distinction in the Cleanliness and Decency Campaign for 2023.
The Cleanliness and Decency Campaign in which Nicosia District Community Councils participate is an annual institution, which has been held for more than 30 years under the auspices of the Nicosia District Administration. The aim is the cleaning and beautification of the communities and at the same time the creation and cultivation of cleanliness consciousness among the citizens. Furthermore, the Campaign contributes to the creation of a climate of healthy competition between the participating communities.
The Cleanliness Committee, which is composed of officials from the Nicosia District Administration and the Health Services, visited and inspected the nominated communities and submitted its recommendations for the awarding of the cleanest and neatest communities.
Eight first prizes, eight second prizes and eight third prizes were awarded at the event.

Further, an award was presented for the cleanest and neatest green space as well as an award to the community with the largest volunteer contribution to the Cleanliness Campaign. The prizes are accompanied by a cash award to the winning communities.
