A meeting was held today at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works between the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, and the leadership of the Department of Postal Services.
In the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, the future of Cyprus Post in the very demanding and competitive postal environment was discussed and views and suggestions were recorded with the aim of both the effective utilization of the capabilities of Cyprus Post and the improvement of the services offered to the public, taking into account the social role that Cyprus Post plays as a universal postal service provider. Furthermore, the possibility of using the Postal Services Department for the provision of extended state services to citizens, especially in rural areas, through the institution of Citizen Centres (CCCs) was discussed.
These results will be presented to the Steering Committee on Postal Services and then the issue will be handled by the Inter-ministerial Committee, chaired by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works and comprising the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry and the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
