One of the most popular and productive events for those involved in conference tourism, the well-known M&I Europe Forum, concludes today in Limassol.

The M&I Forum consists of a series of conference tourism events, which take place each time in a different city around the world. The events bring together buyers and suppliers of conference tourism (e.g. associations, conference organisers, event organisers, destinations, hotels, event venues, etc.). During each event, more than 40 predefined meetings are scheduled for each participant.

The conference started on 30 August with the participation of more than 300 professionals, was organized for the first time in Cyprus and is certainly a great success for Cyprus and the Deputy Ministry of Tourism which supported the organization.

Important contributions were also made by CIMA (Cyprus Incentives & Meetings Associates), the Cyprus Convention Bureau and the City of Dreams Mediterranean where most of the event took place.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Costas Koumi, who attended the farewell event held last night at the village of Souni in Limassol, after congratulating CIMA's initiative and those who supported the event, warmly thanked all the participants and went on to stress the importance of conference tourism for Cyprus.

He said that conference tourism is a form of tourism that can add value to the tourism industry, as too many conferences and events take place outside the peak periods, and it is certainly important for Cyprus to become more competitive in this sector as well.

He added that past studies, such as that of the ICCA, have shown that both the per diem and per capita expenditure of conference delegates are usually higher than the average tourist expenditure, thus highlighting the need for Cyprus tourism as a whole to place more emphasis on conference tourism.
