Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Ms Marilena Evangelou presented today during a press conference the results of the Modernization and Upgrading of the Minimum Guaranteed Income (MGA).
The achievement of the objective of the Modernisation and Upgrading of the EEE is an implementation of the President's governance programme and contains three main parameters. Effectively addressing delays in the processing of applications, achieving a significant reduction in the average processing time of applications to 90 days, where it used to take 12 or even 24 months to process an application. Translated into percentage terms, the average processing time was reduced to 75%.
2. The immediate termination of the benefit where and when fraud or an attempt to defraud the system is identified, with the strengthening of the Audit Team, in order to make the EEO more equitable and taking into account the prevalence and consolidation of social justice. The Team was reinforced in July and carried out a total of 303 targeted audits in high-risk cases by the end of December, resulting in 204 fully justified terminations, with annual savings of €1.7 million
3. The integration and inclusion of all VET beneficiaries in society by integrating them into the labour market or into education and training programmes or psychosocial support programmes with the support of the Social Intervention Mechanism.
Through the Social Intervention Mechanism, an individualised plan is drawn up for each beneficiary with a binding cooperation agreement for the beneficiary. The disengagement and activation of beneficiaries is one of the main objectives of the European Union in relation to the EIF.
The realisation of the objectives has been made possible, inter alia, by the technological upgrade of the EIF and the simplification of procedures, making the EIF faster, but also by saving human resources, which have been used in other equally important work in the field of the EIF.
The strengthening of the OJEU and finding further ways to facilitate applicants and beneficiaries continues to be pursued by the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare with very specific objectives, which are already in the process of implementation.
