The Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour Welfare and Social Insurance, in the context of the effort to combat Undeclared Work and control compliance with Basic Labour Laws, informs that during the month of January 2022 targeted inspections were carried out on a nationwide basis in Industries / Industrial Areas.
[*]Inspections were carried out in 197 establishments, where 149 employers and 48 self-employed workers were identified. The total number of workers identified was 413 (347 men and 66 women). In detail, 290 were E/C, 75 E/E, 45 A/TX and 3 T/C. [*]5 undeclared workers were identified. 5 Infringement Notices were issued and 2 Fines of €5,000 were imposed.
The aim of the campaign was to raise awareness among all those employed in these economic activities of the consequences of undeclared work and non-compliance with the provisions of the relevant legislation.
It should be noted that, according to the provisions of the relevant legislation, if an undeclared person is detected in the Social Security Fund, an administrative fine of €500 multiplied by 7 months is issued, unless it is proven by the employer that the period of violation was shorter. If it is proven that the period of violation was longer, the fine is multiplied by the actual months.
It is recalled that the nationwide telephone line 77778577 accepts anonymous/anonymous complaints/information in connection with undeclared work or violation of the terms of employment.
