Regarding the current strike of the employees of the supportive educational programmes of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, it is noted that the Ministry is working intensively both for the final settlement of the labour issue and for the pedagogical restructuring of the programmes.
At a recent meeting with representatives of the employers' guilds, a draft of the legislative regulation of the employment status of employees in these programmes was provided, on which the positions of the guilds are awaited. At the same time, the Ministry informed them that the proposal for the pedagogical restructuring of the programmes will be communicated to them shortly.
The work on a balanced and pedagogically sound proposal is in the process of being finalised. An effort that both puts students at the center and that will also take into account all the parameters that make up the chronic issue of employment in the Ministry's programs. Therefore, taking any strike action at this time is untimely and premature. The commitment of the Ministry of Education and the Government to resolving chronic issues remains undiminished with the sole focus on improving our education system.
Finally, we are reminded that the chronic demand of all for the abolition of the purchase of services regime has already been achieved, and the future structure and content of the programmes are considered to be of great importance to the Ministry of Education.
