The European Defence Agency, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of Cyprus, organised a conference on 27 and 28 February in Larnaca, in the framework of the Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector. The conference was attended by more than 90 energy experts from 29 countries, independent organisations, academic institutions and companies.
The conference was welcomed by the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Andreas P. Loukas, who underlined that the Defence sector is leading the way in the adoption and development of new environmentally friendly models and technologies to improve the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces, achieving energy savings and sustainable development. This effort, he stressed, is done collectively and cooperatively at European level and this will bring multiple benefits for all Member States of the European Union.
During the conference, a static exhibition was held, in which Cypriot companies active in the Defence sector participated. They presented innovative solutions in the fields of energy saving, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability in defence applications. The exhibition was an excellent opportunity for participants to learn about the latest developments in this field.
