[PIO] Announcement of the Ministry of Defence for electronic submission of data declaration for those born in 2008

The Ministry of Defence announces that from 2 January 2024 at 12:00 noon the new online platform for submitting the details of those who have reached or will reach the age of 16 within the current year (born in 2008).

The platform will remain operational until 30 September 2024 at 00:00 and those interested are invited to complete the relevant declaration.

It should be noted that, according to the National Guard Law, this is a mandatory procedure for those who have reached the age of 16.

The same legislation also provides that "anyone who fails to submit the declaration of data, or submits it late, or enters incorrect data in it, or submits incorrect supporting documents, commits an offence and, upon conviction, is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months or a fine not exceeding one thousand euros (€1,000.00) or both".

It is also stressed that young people who do not proceed with the submission of their details will not be able to be issued with an exit permit in order to travel outside Cyprus.
