A campaign of inspections on occupational safety and health issues in establishments where hazardous chemicals are used and/or stored will be conducted by the Labour Inspection Department (TEE) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance in March and April 2024.
Specifically, inspections will be carried out:
- at premises where production or storage activities of various chemicals are carried out, such as pesticides, fertilizers, lacquers, varnishes, gums, paints, insulation materials, plastic materials, sponges, cosmetics, soaps, medicines, etc,
- importers/traders of significant quantities of chemicals,
- places where relatively significant quantities of chemicals may be used/stored,
- large chemical laboratories,
- premises covered by large-scale accident legislation (SEVESO),
- premises where explosives (gunpowder) and/or pyrotechnics are used and/or stored,
- premises where significant quantities of biogas are produced and used,
- premises where hazardous waste is stored and managed.
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among all parties involved to take protective and preventive measures that will help improve the levels of protection and reduce accidents, occupational diseases and dangerous incidents involving hazardous chemicals.
The campaign will check employers' compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Legislation, which provides for the implementation of a risk management system, the definition and implementation of measures to eliminate or reduce the risk of accidents, occupational diseases and dangerous incidents involving hazardous chemicals.
During the campaign, the compliance of employers with the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Legislation will be checked, including the implementation of a risk management system, the definition and implementation of measures to eliminate or reduce the risk of accidents, occupational diseases and dangerous incidents involving hazardous chemicals.
