The General Accounting Office of the Republic publishes the write-offs of the State and its special funds, made by the Technical Committee for the Write-off of Uncollectible Public Money, Valuables and Material, which exceed one thousand euros (€1.000), in accordance with the Law on Accounting and Financial Management and Financial Control of the Republic, Law No. 38(I)/2014.
The write-off of arrears that have been proven to be uncollectible contributes to the objective of the General Accounting Office of the Republic to provide support to public decision-makers, to focus on the collection of arrears owed to the State that have a higher probability of collectability, and to present a reliable and representative picture of arrears and assets in the financial statements of the State.
The total amount written off by the Technical Write-off Committee in 2023 relating to losses, shortfalls of public money, values and materials and amounts due to the State and its special funds amounts to €1,640,862.23, of which an amount of €1,624,477.25 relates to write-offs of more than €1,000, while an amount of €16,384.98 relates to write-offs of less than €1.000.
