At 08:57 the Larnaca Fire Station of Lieutenant Andreas Papadopoulos responded to a fire in a dry-cleaning shop, which is located on the ground floor of a four-storey building in Larnaca.
The dry cleaner was in operation and the fire was noticed by staff working inside, who had safely exited the premises before the arrival of the Fire Service.
The store was extensively damaged by the fire, while smoke affected the paintwork of the entire block of flats and heat affected an apartment on the first floor of the building.
The members of the Fire Service and the Police evacuated the residents of the building as a precautionary measure.
At a later stage and after the final extinguishing has been completed, the causes of the fire will be investigated in cooperation with the competent authorities.
