At 10:30 a.m. the Fire Service received a call about a fire that broke out on the third floor of a four-storey apartment building in the area of Pallouriotissa in Nicosia district. Three fire engines and the telescopic platform from the Nicosia Fire Stations were used to extinguish the fire.
The fire was brought under control half an hour later.
The members of the Fire Service involved in the extinguishing conducted a search of the apartment in question, adjacent apartments and the common areas of the building for any trapped persons. There were no injuries or trapped persons.
At a later stage, after the final extinguishing has been completed, the causes of the fire will be investigated in cooperation with the competent authorities.
