[PIO] Announcement of the Fire Service in connection with a fire in an apartment building in Strovolos

The Fire Service announces that the Acropolis Fire Station responded today at 15:56 to a call for a fire on the veranda of a ground floor apartment in an apartment building in the Strovolos area, with two fire engines.

The fire, which was caused by an electrical failure in a washing machine and extended to electrical and other equipment located on the veranda of the apartment, as well as the wooden pergola, was brought under control at 16:10.

The fire was noticed by the tenant of the apartment, who was inside the apartment at the time of the fire and alerted the Fire Department. Due to smoke inhalation, it was deemed necessary to transport her by ambulance to the Nicosia General Hospital.
