The Ethics and Sports Protection Committee announces that it has received from the Investigating Officers the conclusion on issues concerning football refereeing, which it has adopted in its entirety.
Based on the findings of the Investigating Officers, it appears that there may be seven (7) cases of matches between 2019 and 2023 which may have been manipulated and further seven (7) other different cases are identified which need to be further investigated by the Police as they appear to potentially involve the influencing and/or possible manipulation of the entire Championship[/B].
The Investigating Officers have proceeded to draw up a list of actions that need to be taken by the Cyprus Football Federation to improve matters in order to reduce bias.
The recommendations of the Investigating Officers will be sent to the Cyprus Football Federation.
The Ethics and Sports Protection Committee will shortly arrange a meeting with the Honourable Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus to hand over the findings as well as all the material collected by the Investigating Officers.
