The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, in response to recent reports that the conditions of the Environmental Certificate for the project "Improvement of part of the Main Road Network of the Akamas National Forest Park - Phase A" are not met, wishes to inform the public of the following:
(a) An issue has been raised and is being discussed without clearly identifying the problem and its details.
(b) The Forestry Department, after being notified of the issue, has itself requested the Environment Department, as the authority responsible for monitoring the conditions of the Environmental Opinion, to carry out the relevant inspections.
(c) It was also made known that the Audit Office is carrying out its own audit.
(d) The Forest Department categorically states that there is no derogation, that the conditions of the Environmental Opinion are being fully followed and that it will position itself if and when it receives any comments and observations from the Environment Department and the Audit Office.
