[PIO] Announcement of the Department of Electromechanical Services for product recall

The Department of Electromechanical Services informs the consumer public that it has identified the following products on the market, which do not comply with basic safety requirements and are therefore being withdrawn from the market.

The product does not comply with the essential safety requirements of the Low Voltage Electrical Equipment Directive (LVD), since it involves substantial safety risks for the user. Therefore, the distributor has made a voluntary withdrawal from the market.

The product does not comply with the essential safety requirements of the Low Voltage Electrical Equipment Directive (LVD), as it involves substantial safety risks for the user. In addition, it is not accompanied by the required EE declaration of conformity. Therefore, the manufacturer has voluntarily withdrawn it from the market.

Anyone who knows of a point of sale for the above products or needs additional information or clarification is asked to contact the Electrical Engineering Services Department at 22800514 and 22800522 or at msa@ems.mcw.gov.cy or fax 22348202.

Consumers in possession of any of the above products are advised not to use them and to return them directly to the seller, i.e. the store from which they were purchased.

It should be noted that, according to the Consumer Protection Act of 2021, in the event of purchasing an unsafe product, the consumer is entitled to a replacement product so that the product complies with the terms of the sales contract. If this is not possible, then the consumer is entitled to withdraw, i.e. to return the product to the seller and receive a refund of the full amount paid. It is recalled that the above rights are valid for a period of 2 years from the initial delivery of the product to the consumer and that the final seller is always solely responsible to the consumer.

In case the seller refuses to meet the above rights of the consumer, the consumer is invited to submit his/her complaint in writing via the website of the Consumer Protection Service (www.consumer.gov.cy).
