The National Agricultural Network of the Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Institute of Agricultural Research and the Cyprus University of Technology, organized today, 16 November 2023, the 2nd Pancyprian Conference entitled: "Rural Development: From Research to Practice".
The Conference, which took place at the International Conference Centre Filoxenia in Nicosia from 8:30 to 16:15, was attended by more than 350 participants, researchers, officials, representatives of agricultural organisations, agricultural students and other stakeholders. The conference was welcomed by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Petros Xenophontos.
The official guest and speaker at the conference was Mr. Mark Gibson, Head of the Dissemination and Innovation Division of the Knowledge Transfer Department of the Teagasc Agriculture and Food Development Authority of Ireland. Mr Gibson presented, among other things, a successful example of a Knowledge and Innovation System in the field of Rural Development beyond the borders of our country: the Irish model.
The conference presented research papers related to rural development issues and developed issues related to the interface between agricultural applications and research. The proceedings of the conference were aimed at linking research with agricultural applications, promoting innovation in rural development, highlighting the work of Cypriot research institutions in the field of rural development and strengthening the networking of actors related to rural development.
