[PIO] Announcement of the Cyprus Standards Organisation for its representation at the ETSI General Assembly in France

The General Assembly of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), of which the Cyprus Standards Organisation (CYS) is a full member, took place on 27-29 November 2023, in Sophia Antipolis, France.

Cyprus was represented by the Director of Standardisation of CYS Mr. Cyprus was represented by Mr. Pambos Kammas, Director of Standardisation, and Mr. Joseph Karis, the responsible Standardisation Officer, who also participated in the NSO Meeting.

The General Assembly included several important topics and attracted the interest of about 250 participants, both physically present and online. In addition to ETSI members, consisting of European National Standards Organisations, Telecommunications and Communications Operators, private sector companies from Europe and around the world, relevant Ministries and Telecom Regulators, the Meeting was also attended by representatives of the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), CEN and CENELEC, the European Small and Medium Enterprises Organisations, the European Consumer Standards Organisation and other stakeholders.

The topics covered by the General Assembly were numerous and important. They included the election of a new Board of Directors and Chairman of the new Financial Council, the announcement of the post of Director General, the adoption of the 2024 and three-year budget, the review and evaluation of the year's activities, the announcement of the Agency's Work Programme for 2024, etc.Of particular interest was the amendment of ETSI's Statutes and Internal Procedures and Regulations as a natural consequence of the recent amendment of EC 1025:2012 on European Standardisation.

In the margins of the Assembly, the Cypriot delegation had the opportunity to discuss and exchange views and proposals for cooperation with other national delegations and attendees on issues of common interest, both on communication and technology issues and on issues of broader interest in standardisation and quality.
