The Consumer Protection Service, taking into account the risks of serious injuries to children that may be caused by the presence of cords in children's clothing and on the occasion of the start of the new school year where a number of new children's clothing is available on the market, carried out during the periods 4 to 8 September 2023 and 16 to 27 October 2023 an inspection campaign on children's clothing.
The campaign covered 202 sales outlets nationwide, where on-site inspections were carried out in order to identify and withdraw dangerous children's clothing and to inform economic operators. In relation to the results of this campaign, eight types of children's clothing, which presented risks and for which the process of their withdrawal from the market has already started, have been identified, while in other 23 cases recommendations/warnings were issued to economic operators to take corrective measures.
The Consumer Protection Service will continue to inform consumers in order to better protect their health and safety.
