The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works informs that the construction progress of the Nicosia perimeter motorway was approved for an extension of time until 16 June 2024. Due to adverse weather conditions, a request was submitted by the contractor for an additional time extension, which was approved by the Departmental Committee for Changes and Claims (CAC), until 25 June 2024.

The contractor submitted new time extension requests until 5 August 2024 for events from 1 January 2024 to date, such as additional works that occurred, and for adverse weather conditions (high temperatures) from 1 March 2024 to date. The time extension requests were reviewed in accordance with the newly established procedures (by TEA and the Central Claims and Claims Committee (CCCC)) and a time extension to July 15, 2024 was approved. From this date onwards, and until completion/delivery of the project, penalties for undue delay of €5,500/day will be deducted.

According to the contractor, the peripheral motorway will be delivered in mid-August, except for a small section on Cheriou Avenue which will be delivered at a later stage and which will not affect the operation of the motorway.
