The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that the deadline for submitting applications for Phase B of the "Electrification with 1000" sponsorship scheme has been extended by two (2) months, namely until 31 July 2024 at 12:00 a.m.
The responsible body for the implementation of the project is the Department of Electromechanical Services of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works in cooperation with the Cyprus Energy Office.
The project is included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan with the policy axis of rapid transition to a green economy - sustainable transport. Its implementation will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, as well as other pollutants. The budget available for this phase is €2.5 million.
The project is part of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works' commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the use of sustainable technologies, alongside the electromobility promotion plan to purchase vehicles with zero or low CO2 emissions. The aim is to promote electromobility through the development of an extensive network of electric vehicle recharging points.
Eligible locations for the installation of chargers are parking areas for public use, such as municipal and community car parks, private car parks (e.g.(e.g. parking lots of department stores, hotels, supermarkets, banks, private hospitals, shopping centres, etc.), petrol stations, recharging stations and on-street parking spaces (on-street parking or along the roadway).
The beneficiaries of the grants are natural persons, legal persons (companies, associations, unions, foundations, federations), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), legal persons under public law, as well as Local Authorities that carry out economic activity for the purpose of this project, own or rent parking space for public use and operate in areas under the control of the Republic of Cyprus.
It is clarified that the beneficiaries do not include natural or legal persons who aim to install the station for private use (e.g. charging the organisation's vehicle fleet).
The scheme subsidises up to 45% of the cost of installing electric vehicle recharging points.
