[PIO] Announcement by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works regarding a Cyprus Airlines flight from Rome to Larnaca

Regarding the Cyprus Airlines flight CY341 from Rome to Larnaca, which was scheduled to take place on 29/8/2023, and the passengers who have been affected, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works wishes to report the following:

This flight of Cyprus Airlines could not be operated due to a technical problem and the company is making efforts to reschedule and operate the flight.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Civil Aviation Department received complaints from affected passengers and therefore contacted the airline, which informed that the aircraft has been repaired and it is expected that the flight from Rome to Cyprus will be operated within the day.

It is also reported that following a communication between the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Rome was instructed to provide all necessary facilities to the passengers of the affected flight, particularly those belonging to vulnerable groups, until the problem is resolved and their safe return to Cyprus.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Civil Aviation Department are closely monitoring the matter with a view to providing all possible assistance to the passengers of the affected flight, based on the European Regulation EU261/2004 on passenger rights.
