[PIO] Announcement by the Ministry of Justice on the completion of the 3rd scientific conference of the State Archives on "The Turkish invasion in

On Tuesday, 11 June 2024, the 3rd scientific conference of the State Archives took place on "The Turkish invasion through archival sources". The conference was held on the occasion of the International Archives Day, which is celebrated on June 9, 2024. The purpose of these celebrations at the international level is to highlight the usefulness of archives for society and good governance and to raise public awareness of their importance and value. At the same time, this conference was added to the activities to mark the tragic 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion.

The conference was welcomed by the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Mr. Marios Hartsiotis, under whose auspices the conference was held, stressed the importance of the archives for good administration and historical research, and praised the efforts of the State Archives for their preservation and promotion.

In his speech, the Superintendent of the State Archives, Mr. Christos Kyriakides, after welcoming the participants, stressed the importance that the State Archives attaches to the promotion of the archives of the period under consideration, presenting at the same time the relevant archival collections kept in the State Archives and the legal issues concerning their accessibility.

The conference was attended by a number of speakers.
