The Ministry of Justice and Public Order welcomes the launch of the pilot operation of the e-justice information system, which is an important step towards the integrated digital transformation of the courts. The e-justice will replace the current implementation of the interim e-Justice solution (i-justice), which laid the foundations for a smoother transition to the new digital era in the justice sector, serving the operation of the Courts to the fullest extent.
The Government places the reform of the judicial system high on its priorities and actively supports the implementation of reforms aimed at building a modern and fast justice system by introducing, inter alia, sophisticated information technologies.
We hope that we will soon have the integrated system fully in place, which will undoubtedly enhance the efficiency and quality of our judicial system, making a positive contribution, among other things, to the chronic problem of delays.
Undoubtedly, the benefits of the integrated electronic system are multiple and obvious. Savings in time and costs for all users of the system, greater security in the storage of digitised documents, possibilities for easier searching of files and their simultaneous viewing by more users, security of payments and elimination of anachronistic methods of paying fees, such as stamps and lawyer's fees, savings in working hours and better use of staff, direct communication and information to government departments, lawyers and litigants on the progress of cases concerning them.
In addition, the State. recognizing the need for the adoption and introduction of the digital recording and record keeping system, as well as the actions being implemented aiming at the full implementation of e-justice projects, has already initiated the planning and implementation of the "Digital Record Keeping in Courts" Project.
It is our obligation to think creatively and implement innovative solutions and effective measures. The use of technology has the potential to improve the functioning of justice systems for the benefit of citizens and businesses, assisting judges and court staff in their activities, speeding up judicial procedures and contributing to the quality of justice.
All measures are designed and implemented in close cooperation with all stakeholders, in particular the judiciary, with full respect for its independence and autonomy, as well as the legal profession.
