The Ministry of Interior announces that the inspection of 250 apartments of the St Nicholas housing complex in Chloraka was completed today, according to the procedure decided at yesterday's meeting under the President of the Republic.
Representatives of the Asylum Service, together with members of the Aliens and Immigration Service of the Police and other relevant services, attended the complex in question and registered 81 persons identified as residing in these apartments.
Based on the data collected, these persons include both asylum seekers and holders of subsidiary protection of Syrian origin. Of the total number of persons, 23 asylum seekers were transferred to the Accommodation Centre for Applicants for International Protection in Kofinou, in order to activate the procedure for the immediate examination of their applications in the coming period.
At the same time, the majority of the remaining persons informed about their intention to leave in the coming days and find another place to stay.
It should be noted that there was also a case of a person who was found to be residing illegally in the Republic and for whom all the necessary procedures for deportation will be activated.
The above practice will continue in the coming days in order to ensure the implementation of the decision by identifying any other persons.
