Regarding the damage caused to the Pharmaceutical Warehouses due to extreme weather phenomena, the Ministry of Health wishes to inform about the following:

1. As a consequence of the heavy hail and rainfall that occurred on the afternoon of 18 March 2024 in Nicosia and particularly in the Strovolos area, quantities of water flowed into the pharmaceutical warehouses of the Ministry of Health, resulting in damage to cartons of pharmaceutical products.

2. The competent services of the Ministry were immediately mobilized with all the required procedures to deal with and manage the situation created.

3. A count of the affected stock is underway and its rapid replacement by the pharmaceutical companies and the contractors of the relevant contracts has already been initiated, so that no shortages are observed and patients receiving or about to receive the preparations in question are not affected.

4. The process of relocating the Pharmaceutical Warehouses to new more suitable premises is underway and is expected to be completed in the near future.

Finally, the Ministry of Health assures that the matter is being managed and that the uninterrupted provision of pharmaceutical care has been ensured.
