[PIO] Announcement by the Ministry of Health on the reduction of the age limit for the administration of booster/4th dose of COVID-19 vaccine

As part of efforts to boost the immunity of groups of the population most vulnerable to serious disease, the Ministry of Health informs that from Monday 26 September 2022, the booster/4th dose will be administered:

  1. to people aged 30 years and over, to people of any age living or working in care homes and closed structures,
    1. to health professionals of any age,
    2. to pregnant women of any age, to people aged 12 years and over with:
      1. diabetes mellitus,
      2. severe obesity: BMI ≥40 or ≥35 with metabolic syndrome,
      3. severe chronic cardiovascular disease,
      4. severe chronic kidney disease,
      5. severe chronic liver disease,
      6. severe chronic neurological disease,
      7. haemoglobinopathies,
      8. in immunocompromised and immunosuppressed patients such as:

- on active treatment for solid tumors and hematological malignancies,

- with a history of solid organ transplantation receiving immunosuppressive therapy,

- with a history of primary hematopoietic organ transplantation receiving immunosuppressive therapy,

- with hereditary immunodeficiency,

- with HIV infection/AIDS,

- on immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents,

- with renal failure undergoing dialysis or peritoneal dialysis,

- as regards cortisone intake, it refers to subjects who have received or are receiving a total dose of '10 mg prednisone/day (=8 mg methylprednisolone) for one (1) month in the last six months,

provided that a period of five (5) months has elapsed since receiving the booster/3rd dose.

  1. Receiving the booster/4th dose of vaccine is optional.

An identification document (identity card, passport) and vaccination card must be presented for vaccination.

Immunocompromised and immunocompromised patients may come to the walk-in vaccination centres by presenting a medical certificate from a Staff or Specialist Doctor.

It is recalled that:

a) The booster/3rd dose will be given to persons 12 years of age and older, provided that the period of five (5) months from the receipt of the 2nd dose has elapsed.

  1. Receipt of the booster/3rd dose of vaccine is optional.

Beneficiaries will be served through the walk-in vaccination centres operating in all provinces.

Vaccination centres:

Nicosia: State Fair (8am - 2:30pm)

Larnaca: Larnaca Old Hospital (8am - 2:30pm)

Limassol: Linopetra Health Centre (8am - 2:30pm)

Paphos: Paphos General Hospital (8am - 2:30pm)

Famagusta: Famagusta Health Centre (8am - 2:30pm)

Kyperounda: Kyperounda Vaccination Centre (former SPC) Monday, Wednesday and Friday (9:30am - 1:30pm)

Polis Chrysochous: Polis Chrysochous Hospital, every Tuesday (9:30am.pm - 1:30pm)
